Michael Casimir is winner of the grand prize at the Hudson Valley Philharmonic Competition in 2013, Laureate of the 2011 and 2008 Sphinx competitions. Mr. Casimir has appeared as a soloist with members of the Philadelphia and Cleveland Orchestras at the 2005 Haitian Benefit Concert, as well as three solo engagements with the Ocean City Pops Orchestra. He has been a featured soloist at concerts in Cape Town, Soweto and Johannesburg, South Africa; Rio De Janeiro and the Manaus Opera House in Brazil; Tokyo, Hiroshima & Nagasaki in Japan; Sevilla and Madrid in Spain; and the Parthenon in Greece. One of Michael’s most recent achievements has been a solo performance with pianist Emanuel Ax.
Michael is a veteran of three Heifetz On Tour residencies at the Jamestown (R.I.) Arts Center, and attended the Heifetz Institute during the summers of 2012, ’13, and ’14. In 2015, he served as an Artist-in-Residence at the summer Institute, and also as the Alternative Music Coordinator for the highly successful new Heifetz Hootenanny series.
After completing his undergraduate studies with Heidi Castleman at the Juilliard School, Michael entered the graduate program of the Curtis Institute of Music in the Fall of 2015.
