Carmen Balthrop has been acclaimed by The Washington Post as “electrifying, a consummate performer.” This American soprano has an astonishing range of repertoire from Baroque opera to contemporary songs. She has appeared with most of the major opera companies in North America, including the Metropolitan, Canadian, San Francisco, Dallas, and Miami. She has performed at opera houses in Venice, Spoleto, and Berlin, as well as with the New York Philharmonic, National, Boston, and Philadelphia Orchestras. In great demand as a recitalist, Ms. Balthrop has appeared at the White House, Kennedy Center, and Carnegie Hall, as well as throughout Europe, Asia, and South America. She enjoys collaborating with living composers and has performed world premieres of works that were written specifically for her.
