Wednesday evenings during our 2016 summer Festival of Concerts will be devoted to chamber music performances, with pride of place given to the 16 students in our Ashkenasi/Kirshbaum Chamber Music Seminar. Two different groups will be featured on July 6, including The Von Quartet, playing a complete performance of Haydn’s Quartet in C major, Op. 74 No. 1.
The other foursome featurers A/K Seminar students Shuxiang Yang and Rachell Wong, violist Stephanie Block, and cellist Benjamin Fried, playing a great quartet by Felix Mendelssohn.
The concert will also include two of our young #Heifetz2016 violinists – Rachel Yi and Heewon Koo – playing concertos by Mozart and Polish composer Henryk Wieniawski, as well as 2016 Artist in Residence cellist Mo Mo joining pianist Carlos Avila to play a dazzling set of variations from Rossini’s “Barber of Seville” by Czech composer Bohuslav Martinu.
Suggested donation is just $5 to hear the concert in the newly-redone Francis Auditorium on the Mary Baldwin College Campus!
