As we gear up for our first-ever “Spring Hootenanny” this week at the historic 1855 American Hotel Banquet Room, we’re going to flash back to the last time we held a Heifetz Hootenanny in a downtown Staunton hotel. Our first season of Heifetz Hootenannies closed out in memorable fashion at gorgeous Colonnade Roomn of the Stonewall Jackson Hotel, the “home away from home” for Heifetz Institute faculty and guests. We weren’t quite sure how the “Hoots” would work out, but we needn’t have worried – our casual multi-genre Saturday night concerts have become a mainstay of Heifetz summers in Staunton. And we closed out the first season of Hoots in memorable style, with Heifetz student Maura Shawn Scanlin – who also happens to be a Scottish fiddling champ – joining A Prairie Home Companion mainstays and local legends Robin and Linda Williams to perform Jay Ungar’s haunting “Ashokan Farewell.”
More memories are waiting to made on Saturday night, March 18th – get your Heifetz Spring Hootenanny tickets here!
