Happy Fourth of July! Once again, the Heifetz Institute is teaming up with James Monroe’s Highland – the historic Charlottesville, VA home of our nation’s fifth President – for a free concert from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and free grounds access throughout the day.
Today’s concert will feature performances by no fewer than 16 Heifetz Institute performers, including violinists Ji Won Song, Charlottesville native Madi Vest, Sarah Ma, Daniel Bae, and Sam Weiser; violist Halam Kim, cellists Ezra Escobar, Thomas Mesa, Ismael Ariel Guerrero Bombut, Clare Bradford, and Juan-Salvador Carrasco, soprano Angel Azzarra, and our intrepid pianists Jun Cho, Carlos Avila, Anton Smirnoff, and Stefan Petrov!
Come early! Visitors can enjoy family games and activities from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Access to grounds is FREE ALL DAY on Independence Day. Fourth of July picnics are welcome at the fifth president’s home. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own or select from the Highland Fare options at the Museum Shop, including sandwiches, salads, snacks, and soft drinks.
The Independence Day concert will be in three sections: “Celebrate America,” music both patriotic and whimsical that reflects our great nation; “Coming to America,” chronicling in music the immigrant experience that adds to our rich American tapestry; and finally, “America the Beautiful,” celebrating the natural beauty of our region and our nation.
