At the debut Heifetz Institute concert at the American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Playhouse in Staunton, VA, new Artistic Director Nicholas Kitchen of the Borromeo String Quartet leads a student ensemble (violinists Danny Yehun Jin & Sophia Steger, violist Kate Moran, and cellist Hannah Rubin) in his own arrangement of the Sinfonia from J.S. Bach’s Cantata No. 29, which itself is based on the well-known Prelude in E major from the Partita for Solo Violin, BWV 1006. The German text of the cantata“Wir danken dir, Gott, wir danken dir,” translates to “We thank you, God, we thank you.”
Performed in concert at Blackfriars Playhouse at the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton, VA, as part of the Heifetz Institute’s 2019 Festival of Concerts.
