Dominic Lee is a young rising cellist from New Zealand. Dominic attended the Heifetz Institute as a Ueno scholar in 2018 and is currently working on his Masters of Music degree at the Eastman School of Music under Professor Steven Doane, Heifetz faculty member, as a Howard Hanson Scholar and the George Eastman Scholar for performance. Dominic won first prize in various competitions such as the 2013 Valsesia International Music Competition, 2013 Padova International Music Competition, and 2015 American Protégé International Music Competition. Recently, he was named the winner of the Eastman School of Music Concerto Competition, which promoted his performance of the Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1 with the Eastman Philharmonia under the baton of Maestro Kirk Trevor in Kodak Hall. Dominic made his first appearance as soloist with the Bay of Plenty Symphonia at the age of 13 and since has performed with orchestras such as the Nelson Symphony Orchestra, and the Eastman Philharmonia. In 2015, he made his debut performance at the Carnegie Hall in New York.
