After spending the summer of 2015 at the Heifetz Institute, cellist Kevin Mills, from Mission Viejo, California, is currently a first year student at The Juilliard School, pursuing his Masters Degree in cello performance. He has been an active solo artist, performing concertos with the Four Seasons and Pacific Youth symphonies, as well as the CSUF and Saarburg International Symphony orchestras. In 2011, Mills presented a solo recital at Goodman Recital Hall in New York City. Healso performed in historical music classes with the late Bernard Greenhouse.
In his emerging musical career, Mills has won first place in the CSUF Music Associates Solo Competition, the American String Teachers Association String Competition and just recently the Rio Hondo Symphony’s Young Artist Competition. Most recently, he had been the principal cellist of the CSUF Symphony Orchestra for four years. He now studies with the world renowned instructor Richard Aaron. His past influential teachers also include Bongshin Ko, Janos Starker, Peter Stumpf, Bonnie Hampton, and Johannes Moser.
