Our Celebrity Series “Heifetz Happy Hours” are a new Friday night tradition in Staunton! Experience the world-renowned artistry of our virtuosic Heifetz Institute faculty members in carefully-conceived 75-minute programs. Each concert is preceded by a “Happy Hour” designed to showcase local Virginia wines and food artisans.under the big new “Heifetz Tent” on Mary Baldwin’s Page Terrace. Your all-inclusive $30 ticket includes tickets for food & beverage, as well as admittance to the newly-refurbished Francis Auditorium! At 5 pm this Friday, enjoy some delicious food from Nu-Beginning Farm, and some choices whites and reds from The Wine Cellar.
Our July 22 concert will feature violinist Mark Kaplan performing selections from his brand-new recording of the Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin by J.S. Bach. Kaplan’s “Sonata DAH” selections were all movements personally requested by Founder and Artistic Director Daniel Heifetz.
From the precision of Bach we’ll move to the rambunctious Bohemia cheer of Antonin Dvorak, with an all-star cast performing the composer’s beloved Piano Quintet in A major. The performance will feature Heifetz faculty members Mihaela Martin and Daniel Phillips, violin; Barbara Westphal, viola; Frans Helmerson, cello, and pianist Yael Weiss.
