‘Tis The Season! Join us Thursday night, December 14th for the annual performance at The Kreeger Museum by the outstanding young artists of the Heifetz International Music Institute.
This special program features an all-star cast of 2017 Heifetz alumni, including violinists Ji-Won Song and Yiming Mao, violist Molly Wise, and cellist Noémie Raymond-Friset, joined by Heifetz faculty pianist Stefan Petrov. Special guest soprano Angel Azzarra will also be on hand to lend her stunning voice to holiday-infused program of Baroque favorites, classical masterworks and music for the season.
It promises to be a concert of pure delights….including Bach’s boisterous Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, some dazzling solo works by Paganini and Tchaikovsky, and the serene Nocturne from the String Quartet No. 2 by Alexander Borodin. Holiday selections will include the Fantasia on Greensleeves by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Tchaikovsky’s December from “The Seasons,” a brand-new medley of Christmas and Hanukkah tunes from Catalonia, Israel, and America, and even an adaptation of Jascha Heifetz’s rendition of White Christmas! Heifetz performances are invariably among the most talked-about concert events on the Kreeger calendar, and you won’t want to miss the dazzling virtuosity and poignant passion of these young Heifetz performers. Hallelujah!.
