Pianist Hui-Chuan Chen was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan and began piano lessons at age six. Upon graduation, the acclaimed pianist moved to Baltimore, MD to pursue her graduate studies at The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. Ms. Chen has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. An active chamber musician, she has collaborated with vocalists including soprano Shou-Hua Su and mezzo-soprano Chi-Chun Chan performing at the National Recital Hall in Taipei, Taiwan. Ms. Chen has participated in several festivals including Songfest, where she performed Schumann’s Spanish Lieder for vocal ensemble under the instruction of Graham Johnson. The same year, she made her first appearance at the Kennedy Center. Ms. Chen is now on the faculty at Peabody, from which she recently received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree.
